Trading parking spaces for people places: Exploring plazaPOPS’ 2024 installations in Wexford Heights, Scarborough

Join plazaPOPS’ leadership team on a walk to visit three pop up installations in Wexford Heights, Scarborough, one of the GTAs most iconic, diverse, and delicious strip mall main streets! The walk will begin and end at our main site at 2020 Lawrence Avenue East (at the corner of Lilian Drive) and will feature a take-out dinner.

The tour will overview the planning, design, financial, contractual, logistical, legal and relational considerations that underpin plazaPOPS collaborative and partnership-based model. We will discuss the not-for-profit entity that has been created to manage the initiative, how plazaPOPS builds and nurtures a network of trust-based relationships with our many community based, NGO, public and private sector partners, as well as the social, environmental and economic impact research that we are conducting with the City of Toronto.
