Job Description


AECOM Buildings + Places is currently seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to join our team. This position is based out of our Kitchener and/or Markham office, with opportunities for hybrid work.

If you are our successful incumbent, you will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and control of several Landscape Architecture and Urban Design projects from inception through completion. Project types include but are not limited to: civic buildings and institutions, municipal squares, plazas, streetscapes, trails, parks, open spaces, conservation areas. As Project Manager, you will guide the team to manage quality, scope, budget, and schedule, while meeting our client's expectations.

Work on challenging, trans-disciplinary infrastructure and design projects in public realm, transportation, transit, architecture, and water and apply outside the box ideas and approaches. The job incumbent may will be involved with conceptual development, technical design, stakeholder engagement, and construction administration in addition to project management responsibilities.

Concept through Completion: Tackle design assignments through the entire life-cycle of a project, including proposal creation, site analysis, concept design, schematic / detailed design, construction documentation and construction administration.

Lead with and Apply Technical Skills: work in a transdisciplinary environment alongside landscape architects, urban designers, planners, architects, transportation planners, and engineers in a collaborative and professional fashion to produce fully coordinated working drawings and project specifications.

Major Responsibilities:

Coordinate and guide the preparation of design and contract documents, document checking, conduct construction review and contract administration throughout the duration of a project.
At a project level, provide clear guidance to designers and technical staff to meet client objectives.
Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing with project team and clients.
Communicate with construction team to provide information and help resolve problems.
Provide feedback to design team / feedback to improve design quality and minimize drawing and specification production errors.
Be responsible for overseeing several active projects and be part of our marketing team in sourcing new work.
Assist or lead the development of winning proposals, attract new clients, and retain current clients.


Qualifications


University degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering.
A PMP certification or other significant demonstrated PM experience, including financial control and reporting and program management.

Licensed Landscape Architect or PEng in good standing will be preferred.
10-15 years of practical experience is preferred for this role.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software.

Experience of some or all of the following softwares: ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS or ProjectWise.
