Reducing The Risk of Public Harm: The Practice of Landscape Architecture in Ontario

Attorney General and Government House Leader Yasir Naqvi, MPP (Ottawa Centre), met with Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA) representatives on January 27 and gave them some homework.

The Minister asked OALA how a Landscape Architect Practice Act would reduce public harm.

Over the last five months, OALA, under the direction of the Practice Legislation Committee, prepared an excellent response which has now been given to the Attorney-General and his officials for review.

The document titled: Reducing The Risk of Public Harm: The Practice of Landscape Architecture in Ontario, provides background on the practice of profession related to public safety, and specific examples of where strengthened legislation would add protection of the public.

This paper has been particularly helpful in subsequent discussions with the government and will be used in future meetings.

OALA Members may also access the document in the Members Area under the Practice Act Section.
