The 2014 OALA Conference and AGM held at the Sheraton hotel in Hamilton was overwhelmingly successful! The event saw one of the biggest turn outs of members and participants, perhaps ever, with roughly 280 total participants, including roughly 40 sponsors, 10 volunteers, 8 webinar participants, 35 associate members and 150 full members present.

The OALA welcomed representatives from Shimmerman Penn LLP, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors to give a presentation on how Landscape architectural and design firms can become more competitive in the marketplace by exploring multi-disciplinary partnerships across a spectrum of projects. Participants learned what specific issues they need to consider from a business, financial, tax and accounting perspective
Very positive comments have been received on Moura’s Keynote and Elaine and Amir’s Seminar from a number of members in attendance.

Various Committees and Task Forces of the Association have been very busy over the last year, and the Conference provided an excellent opportunity to provide updates and receive feedback from the membership on different topic related to the professional work of our members. This method of presentation received great feedback. Being split into smaller groups facilitated better discussion.
