The 15th annual OALA Golf Day took place on Friday, August 11th at the Royal Ontario Golf Club, and was a great success. With a brief spout of rain just after the golfers started, the clouds passed over and left us with beautiful afternoon for a great game of golf. Thank you to our volunteers Corin Latimer, Lauren White and Don Parsons for helping with the event!
We started the day off with a Permacon sponsored lunch as players made their way in. The OALA was grateful to have Honourable Indira Naidoo-Harris, MPP (Halton) attend the lunch and say a few words before tee-off.
The event ended with the Unilock sponsored dinner where OALA member Luke Kairys with Aina Budrevics, OALA Executive Director, and Sarah Manteuffel, OALA Coordinator, announced prize winners and giveaways. The prize tables were full of items donated from our sponsors, and we would like to thank them for their contributions as many went home as winners.
Our feature hole winners were:

Most importantly, we were able to donate $5,000 and $10,000 cheques to both the University of Toronto and the University of Guelph Endowment Funds. This annual Golf Day event as well as our Ski Day event raise funds to help the Landscape Architecture programs at these Universities. OALA President Doris Chee accepted the cheque on behalf of the University of Toronto, reading a statement from Liat Margolis, Director of the University of Toronto Master of Landscape Architecture Program. Justin Whalen, Senior Associate Rep on the OALA Council accepted the cheque on behalf of the University of Guelph and shared a few words of thanks. Thank you to all golfers, volunteers, and sponsors who made this day possible.
