Saturday Tour – Downstream Ottawa
April 1st, 2017
10am – 1pm (Meet at Lord Elgin Hotel)
In light of Canada’s 150th celebrations as well as the start of World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) in April, this guided tour will explore the importance of the Ottawa River in shaping the past, present and future of our Nation’s Capital. Phil Jenkins, former Ottawa Citizen columnist, author and celebrated MC, will lead participants in a tour highlighting key sites along the Ottawa River and within Ottawa’s downtown core demonstrating the sacred nature of the sites as well as the industrial exploitation of the river waters.
The tour will begin at the Lord Elgin Hotel and will pool at the Mill Street Brewery, where participants can stay for lunch or return to the Lord Elgin Hotel. Lunch will feature Pecha Kucha presentations from local Landscape Architects highlighting their favourite places in the Capital and wrapping up with a walking exploration of the key sites in Ottawa central.
